Jacob D. Lochner is the founder of two not-for-profit organizations, the American Scholar and the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education (FIRE). He currently serves as chairman of the board of trustees at FIU, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a minor in Economics. He served as dean of the College of Business Administration at FIU from 2001-2012
